John Garris serves as a Managing Director within the Financial Advisory Services group at WG Consulting. While at WG, he has served as the Interim Controller for a public manufacturing company where he was responsible for the accounting department as well as a global SOX implementation. He was also the Interim Controller for a public retail energy company where he was responsible for the accounting department as well as SEC reporting. John has also worked on technical accounting projects focused on remeasurement and translation as part of a multi-year restatement for a global oilfield services company. In this position, he coordinated the restatement efforts with multiple external audit groups and client management. Prior to joining WG, he was the Assistant Corporate Controller of Valerus and was responsible for the accounting department and presenting consolidated GAAP and non-GAAP financial statement results to executive management. Prior to joining Valerus, John was Co-Founder of Morgan Garris Consulting, LLC; a company that focused on SOX implementations (assessment, documentation, testing, remediation, reporting, and coordination with external auditors) for various companies including Parker Drilling, TODCO (now Hercules), and Riata Energy (now SandRidge). John was an Auditor at Deloitte & Touche for five years, where he served the Houston office’s largest client, Reliant Energy.
