Marlem serves as a Managing Director at WG Consulting. She is a result focused Financial Executive with over 25 years of proven success leading teams through change, integration, processes, and procedures, and driving continuous improvement and efficiency across organizations. Marlem has partnered with both public and private organizations across a variety of industries including private equity, energy trading, nuclear energy, midstream and downstream energy, construction, and building services. As a Managing Director, Marlem leads a team of professionals that provide strategic counsel and customized solutions to clients. Our team of experts support businesses with special projects, management consulting, outsourced departments or key roles, and operational support and training.

Representative Experience

  • Led and managed the implementation of new accounting structure, system processes, procedures, and SOX controls for the first nuclear units built in the United States in 30 years. Managed external accounting and regulatory audits, SEC financial reporting, regulatory compliance and the $14B capital budget and O&M budget for the nuclear project. Built and led the accounting team at Corporate and the project controls team at the construction site.
  • Served as the Controller for the trading , midstream and pipeline investments businesses for Southern Company Gas. Managed the gas accounting, financial reporting and regulatory compliance teams. Led and improved the forecast and budgeting processes for all 3 businesses.
  • Managed the integration of processes, SOX controls, ERP system, and the accounting teams for the trading business. Transition from Southern Company Gas to Williams.
  • Led a back-office transformation for a $400K multi-site division of a private equity portfolio company, including the redesign and deployment of all individuals in the accounting and finance departments. Implemented new processes and controls to ensure timely and accurate monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
  • Developed and implemented accounting/financial roadmap to onboard new acquired companies. Successfully integrated eight new acquisitions in less than a year.
  • Led the accounting and finance integration of acquired businesses of various sizes located in remote locations.  Activities included transitioning new business financial and risk data into corporate systems, reviewing acquired resources and either eliminating positions or assimilating resources into the overall organization, and incorporating new business controls and operational processes into established corporate processes.
  • Led the deployment of automated systems that reduced budgeting and forecasting manual tasks by 80%, improving accuracy and freeing up resources for higher-value activities.
